15 Things To Do In Mallorca With Your Partner (Aside From the Beach)

While sunbathing on the beach is enjoyable, you don’t need the internet to convince you to do so. You folks are wise and understand that island + Mediterranean Sea equals beach time! And, if you’re like Caleb and me, you want to mix the regular “touristy” activities of the areas you visit with additional “hidden gems” so you can experience the actual culture of that place!

We spent some time exploring the Balearic island of Mallorca and came up with some unique activities that we loved doing together on our 7-day itinerary, and we’re sharing them all in this post so you can have a romantic vacation together and make the most of how many days you have on the island!

15 Things To Do In Mallorca With Your Partner

On The Paseo Maritimo, Eat Gelato

What better way to combat the heat than to share some gelato? The Paseo Maritimo is the promenade that goes around the Palma harbor, and it’s a lovely walk to enjoy with your family! The Gelato Boutique Paseo Martimo is our favorite gelato shop in the region, and we’ve tried a bunch! Grab a cone or a cup (pistachio is the finest) and go around the Mediterranean Sea with your partner! You could split your gelato for added romance, but pro tip: it’s so amazing you’ll want it all to yourself!

Palma: Eat Your Way Through

This one is for food-loving couples like us! We were astounded to discover that Mallorca has a distinct cuisine scene from the rest of Spain! They make their pastry, known as Ensenada, as well as their kind of ‘pizza’ and the most spreadable sausage. It may be difficult to sample everything during your vacation, so take this culinary tour for a fun and tasty way to spend an afternoon together! You’ll learn about the island’s gastronomy and culture, as well as tour some of its most famous landmarks, such as the royal palace!

Ride In A Hot Air Balloon

Ready to feel like you’re on a Bachelor date, but with a greater chance of really working out as a couple? A romantic morning balloon excursion is something you should add to your Mallorca bucket list! What could be more lovely than soaring above the brilliant blue and transparent Mediterranean Sea with the Serra Traumuntana Mountain range in the background? You may also add breakfast for a few dollars, which we encourage because breakfast in Palma can be rather expensive!

Remember that these are generally group trips, so you will be sharing space with other people! But it’s still a fantastic thing to do as a couple. Check out this ride if you want a private ride! According to the reviews, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime event that includes champagne and chocolate strawberries – OH LA LA!

At Sunset, Steal A Kiss

Everyone and their dog will urge you to visit Sa Foradada for the sunset, but we disagree. While we won’t warn you not to go to Sa Foradada for sunset because it is lovely, it is also quite popular and crowded, making it neither romantic nor pleasurable. It’s well-known, so go see it, but then head to Port D’Andratx or Es Pontas in Santanyi to watch the sunset.

These are hidden gem sites that are far less busy and as gorgeous! I mean, kissing in the middle of a Mediterranean sunset? It doesn’t get any more romantic than this, people!

Dinner on the Beach Can Be Romantic

A list of activities to do as a couple would be incomplete without a romantic meal on some of Spain’s greatest beaches! While you can’t have supper right on the beach, there are tonnes of amazing restaurants with sea views, including Restaurant Urbà in Palma, which caters to anyone over the age of 16 (yeah!) and we urge you try the “surprise” menu if you’re feeling daring!

Another great choice is Latitud 39 in Port d’Andratx, where you can enjoy a romantic supper AND steal a kiss at sunset!

Spend Your Day On A Catamaran

Instead of resting on the beach, why not spend some time on the water together? We loved our Catamaran trip, which takes you around some of the island’s less-visited locations and allows you to swim amid the Mediterranean Sea! They normally serve beer, wine, drinks, and small nibbles, and it’s a great way to spend the day with your significant other. Especially since you don’t need a car to accomplish this – this excursion departs directly from Palma!

Visit a Winery and Try Some Wine

Did you know Mallorca makes some fantastic wine? Most likely not, because many Mallorcan wine is not exported, so you have the opportunity to taste something new! We propose that you arrange an organized tour so that you may sample the wine and have some snacks without having to worry about driving drunk! Buy some wine since Spanish wine is a fantastic keepsake from Spain!

Can you imagine sipping wine while gazing out at orchards and vineyards in the Alps, especially in a lovely spring month like May? *SWOON*

A Road Trip Through the Romantic Villages

All of the charming villages to visit, such as Valdemossa, Fornalutx, and Deia, were our favorite parts of the island! While you could use public transportation to see them, it is easier and more pleasurable to do so on a road trip, which is why we recommend hiring a vehicle in Mallorca.

Check out our guide on driving and hiring a car in Mallorca, reserve a car, listen to our couple’s road trip soundtrack, complete our road trip questions, and prepare to get lost in the most lovely and romantic streets you’ve ever seen in your life. That is not an exaggeration!

People drink wine on the Passeig de Born.

Don’t lie: you know that people-watching at European cafés is one of the nicest things to do. The Passeig de Born is one of Palma’s most attractive streets, with several magnificent terraces where you may sip a glass of wine and people-watch. Alternatively, come in December and enjoy MULLED wine while people-watching!

We can’t confirm or deny that making up the backstories of the characters you see improves the experience.

On The Soller Train, Share Coca De Trampo

While these activities might be done alone, they are far more memorable when done together. We obtained our Coca de Trampo at Forn Des Port in Soller, which is about a minute’s walk from the train station. This bakery is housed within a convenience shop (I know. Trust me, it’s delicious!) and easy to overlook! Grab a piece to split, board the vintage train, and eat wonderful food as you travel past citrus trees. This was a one-of-a-kind experience that we highly recommend!

Visit Santa Catalina for a Coffee Date

Santa Catalina is Palma’s trendiest neighborhood right now, with tonnes of incredible restaurants, pubs, and cafés. It’s a terrific place to start the day with a strong cup of espresso! If Instagram is your thing, we recommend Mama Carmen, which also offers some highly Instagrammable breakfast choices! Visit Mallorca in the spring, such as in March, to experience the neighborhood without the crowds!

In The Arabian Gardens, Have A Sweet Snack

The Jardins de Alfabia are a famous tourist destination, and for good reason: they are GORG and one of the nicest locations to explore by vehicle! What most travel websites don’t tell you is that it has a little café inside! It’s the ideal spot for the freshest squeezed orange juice you’ve ever tasted or a lovely little cake while feeling like you’re dining in a jungle with just you two. Oh-la-la!

Hike through the Serra Tramuntana Mountains.

Mallorca provides fantastic trekking for the daring pair, especially if you travel in milder months like February if you don’t mind some rain, or April! There are several little walks amid the mountain communities that might be completed in a single day, or you can do the Grand Route 221! This primary hiking trail on the island is 100 km long and takes 4 to 8 days to complete. If you decide to go, you can stay in guest houses in the communities you visit!

This mountain range is also a UNESCO World Heritage site!

Enjoy a “Hora De Vermut” at La Rosa.

Next to Plaza Weyler lies La Rosa, one of Palma’s greatest vermuterias by both local and tourist standards. This little pub fills up quickly and is highly rowdy and energetic! The vermouth is traditional and tasty, as is the tapas menu. Oh my word, I still dream about the mussels in tomato sauce.

The hour before lunch is known as “La Hora de Vermut” in Spain because it is when Spaniards drink vermouth. So, act like a local and go out for a drink!

Gather local ingredients and prepare a meal together

Many markets in Palma, Mallorca’s capital city, provide incredibly fresh food that you can bring back to your Airbnb and prepare a romantic supper together over a glass bottle of great Spanish wine! For a more authentic experience, visit Mercat de l’Olivar near Placa Espana. The market at Santa Catalina is also excellent, although we found it to be less real.

Is Mallorca a Good Destination for Couples?

We can confidently state that Mallorca is an excellent destination for couples’ vacations! Caleb and I have been across Spain and Europe, and this island is one of the most lovely locations we’ve ever seen, Mallorca is well worth a visit! We believe it is better for couples than families with children, which is ideal for us!

One thing is certain: whether you name it Mallorca or Majorca, there are some pretty fantastic and romantic activities to do in Mallorca for couples!

The chances for romance, adventure, and leisure on this lovely, sun-soaked island are boundless, with the backdrop of the mountains, the blue-blue-blue sea, and jaw-dropping sunsets!
